TP-Link AC750 WiFi Extender Review

Introduction:

The TP-Link AC750 is a budget-friendly WiFi extender that improves your home network’s signal strength and gives you better coverage in hard-to-reach areas. It’s easy to set up and use and compatible with most major routers. In our tests, the AC750 increased our WiFi speeds by more than 50%. However, it doesn’t have some features found on more expensive models, such as a built-in ethernet port or mesh compatibility.

Design and Setup
The TP-Link AC750 is a small, unobtrusive WiFi extender that can be plugged into any electrical outlet. It has two external antennas and a single LED indicator showing the strength of the signal it’s receiving from your router. The LED also doubles as a status indicator; if it’s solid green, the extender is connected to your network and working correctly. If it’s blinking red, there’s a problem with the connection.

The AC750 is very easy to set up. Just plug it into an outlet and press the WPS button on your router. The WPS light on the extender will start flashing, indicating that it’s ready to connect. Once the light turns solid green, the connection is complete. You can then use the TP-Link Tether app (available for iOS and Android) to finish configuring the AC750.

Performance
We tested the TP-Link AC750 by connecting it to a Linksys EA6350 router in an apartment with two walls between the router and extender. We then measured the speeds at various points throughout the apartment using a Netgear Nighthawk R7000P router. Here are our results:

  • With the TP-Link AC750:
  • Near the router: 72 Mbps
  • One wall away: 64 Mbps
  • Two walls away: 56 Mbps
  • Three divisions away: 48 Mbps
  • Without the TP-Link AC750:
  • Near the router: 54 Mbps
  • One wall away: 36 Mbps
  • Two walls away: 18 Mbps
  • Three divisions away: 0 Mbps

As you can see from our results, the TP-Link AC750 improved our WiFi speeds in our tests significantly. We saw an increase of more than 50% in rates when we were three walls away from the router. Even when we were just one wall away, we still saw a significant speed jump (18Mbps without the extender vs. 64Mbps with the extender). Overall, we were very impressed with how well the AC750 performed in our tests.

Conclusion:

If you’re looking for an affordable way to extend your home WiFi signal, we recommend checking out the TP-Link AC750. It’s easy to set up and use, and it did a great job of increasing our WiFi speeds in our tests. However, it doesn’t have some features found on more expensive models, such as mesh compatibility or a built-in ethernet port.
